Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga. (International Association of Yoga Therapy)

Yoga therapy meets each person exactly where they are. Sessions are client-led, compassion-focused, and tailored to your needs. As your therapist, I walk alongside you—not as the expert of your life, but as a supportive guide on your journey towards health and healing.

Our bodies work tirelessly to stay in balance, yet life’s challenges can leave us feeling out of alignment. Yoga therapy offers a gentle and compassionate way to reconnect with yourself. By “self,” I mean that deeper essence of who you are—beyond body or mind—your steady, unchanging core.

Yoga therapy is accessible to all bodies, ages, and abilities. It can be practiced on a mat, in a chair, or even in bed. You don’t need to be flexible or able to touch your toes. Together, we’ll work with your goals and create a plan to support your overall well-being—body, mind, and spirit.

Sessions may include:

  • Gentle movement
  • Breathing practices
  • Somatic inquiry (tuning into body sensations and emotions)
  • Meditation and mindfulness
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Self-care practices

Yoga therapy can be supportive for a wide range of physical and mental health challenges. My particular areas of interest include:

Older life challenges

Women’s well-being across the lifespan

Anxiety and depression

Trauma and PTSD

Long-term health conditions

Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy (IYP)

Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy (IYP) brings together ancient wisdom from the yoga tradition with modern psychotherapy. It recognises the deep connection between mind, body, and spirit, offering a holistic pathway towards greater well-being.

As a trainee Integrative Yoga Psychotherapist, I work in a person-centred and trauma-informed way, drawing on a variety of approaches. Alongside traditional talking therapies, I may invite you to explore:

  • Somatic inquiry – gently noticing what your body feels and communicates
  • Gentle movement and breathing practices
  • Mindfulness and relaxation techniques

Together, we begin from where you are. We’ll talk about your goals and move at a pace that feels right for you. Safety is at the heart of this work—any practices I suggest will always be invitational, with clear explanations, so that you remain fully informed and in control of your journey.

“Mindfulness not only makes it possible to survey our internal landscape with compassion and curiosity but can also actively steer us in the right direction for self-care.”
